Blameful Isles – Chimerical

The latest album by Swedish producer and song writer, Blameful Isles came out this September and is absolutely breathtaking. Chimerical is filled with soulful and emotional songs that go from spiritual jazz to modern electronica by exploring ambient styles and with touches of inspiration from world music. The style range on the album is incredible, it takes you on a journey. The artist is known for his spiritual albums and while this one goes a bit away from his freeform jazz style from previous albums it still is his own style. The album feels very personal and as if Blameful Isles dug really deep within himself to come up with songs that would convey what he’s been going through since the last album which was a couple years before. The album on vinyl came with a small booklet that is incredible, each song has a short “haiku” style text written by Blameful Isles himself to express how he felt about them. This whole project is so gorgeous, give it a go you won’t be disappointed.

Photay – Waking Hours

The latest album by the New Yorker, Evan Shornstein aka Photay is a very special piece of work. While continuing his path as a musician, song-writer and producer Photay keeps evolving. For every new album his work changes and transforms. His music is an extension of his own life experiences and feelings. As he grows and mature the same happens with his music. I was a huge fan since his early releases in 2012 and never stopped following his work during the years, always surprised by his new albums. Waking Hours is no exception to that rule and it’s a very powerful album with a strong message and direction. It’s a special experience to listen to it repeatedly and on each new listen I’m discovering something new and exciting. It came out in 2020 via the label Mexican Summer based in Brooklyn, New York.

Roos Jonker & Dean Tippet – Roos Jonker & Dean Tippet

Here’s a super sweet album that was released by dutch singer-songwriters Roos Jonker & Dean Tippet from Amsterdam. The music will gently rock your soul and make you feel relaxed and happy. Bringing a bit of Summer sunlight into the coming Winter. Their songs are influenced by a few different types of music, Brazilian Bossa Nova, Tropical Folk and modern jazz come to mind while listening. The melodies are always filled with bittersweet emotions and the overall feeling of the album is just perfect. This incredible album is brought to us by Berliner label Sonar Kollektiv. There’s a very small and rare edition of pink vinyls that were only pressed 100 times and it happens so that there are still 6 available at the time I’m writing this so if you discover through this post you might be so lucky and secure one of the last copies! Mammal Hands – Floa

Today is a throwback post to a release from 2015 with one of our favorites records. “Floa” released on Gondwana Records by Mammal Hands, a Jazz/Folk band from Norwich in the UK. Their music and sound will always make your mind travel into a spiritual world, flying like a bird over forests, tundra, glacier and such natural landscapes brimming with animal life and flora. As soon as you play their music a sensation of freedom and lightness will take over your soul. A truly magical experience.

Gas-Lab – Blue Room

Hailing from Argentina Gas-Lab is a talented jazz musician and producer, in his newest album Blue Room he’s putting the jazzy in Jazzy Hip Hop. A fantastic organic album that has a very instrumental hip hop base without shying away from the true sense of jazz music. A truly freeform and liberating experience. Released earlier this year via the Canadian label Inner Ocean. A few vinyls are left on their Bandcamp so don’t miss it.

Nubya Garcia -Source

One of the most incredible album drop of 2020 is “Source” by Nubya Garcia. The amazing Saxophone player, song writer and producer from London brought us this outstanding piece of work that is absolutely perfect. She’s making a super impactful debut with an album that will leave a mark on the jazz/dub genres forever. This is an incredible year for Jazz music in London without a doubt. Released on Concord Jazz.

Koichi Sakai / Afla Sackey – Wono

For this amazing project Koichi Sakai & Afla Sackey joined together to bring us their positive energy and vibes. Perfectly recorded and mixed the work of the multi instrumentalists is just splendid. The project is brought to us via the Londonian label Olindo Records.

Greg Foat – Symphonie Pacifique

The new album by UK Pianist Greg Foat which came out this Summer is absolutely incredible. The music takes you on a funky/jazzy trip with an upbeat tempo and gives you a feeling of lightness and freedom. The cover is also one of my favorite of this entire year, during such a dark year with everything going on this album is like a breath of fresh air and positive vibes. It came out via the Londonian label Strut. Just wonderful! 10/10

Quin Kirchner – The Shadows and The Light

Incredible new album by Quin Kirchner was released via Astral Spirits. The new album by the artist hailing from Chicago, IL is absolutely mind blowing. The album itself with the art on the chrome print is very unique and the vinyl sounds perfect as well. This is a perfect release on all fronts 10/10.
