Nikitch & Kuna Maze – Débuts

‘Débuts’ is France-via-Brussels duo, Nikitch & Kuna Maze’s (aka Nicolas Morant & Edouard Gilbert) first full length album. Building on their collaborative EP “Mush”, ‘Débuts’ continues to explore the melting point between jazz and club culture, interspersed with the signature sounds of broken beat, Chicago footwork, UK garage, Detroit house, and underpinned by their road-tested new live format.

Misch and Yussef Dayes – What Kinda Music

One of the biggest happening in the world of music in the last few months was “What Kinda Music” a collaboration between Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes. The album made such a buzz and the love it got is totally deserved. The two musicians are touring together and they might come near you in 2021. Our local date is already sold out months in advance though. Even under times like these some events are not to be missed. The album came out on legendary Jazz label Blue Note. If you are living under a rock and haven’t heard this one yet well check it out without further ado, we thought we’d mention it though.

DNGDNGDNG – Continentes Perdidos

Originating from Peru Dengue Dengue Dengue is a duo of producers that transcends electronic music with integrations of ritualistic and traditional influences. Their album Continentes Perdidos (translating into Lost Continents) take us into the breach to an alternate universe. Creating a mesmerizing atmosphere through polyrhythmic score, the album creates a soundtrack filled with mind blowing tunes. Don’t miss this incredible piece of work yet again released by the brilliant label “On The Corner”.

Kaidi Tatham – In Search of Hope

For our first blog post of 2021 this album felt like the perfect fit. “In Search of Hope” feels like the right keywords to set the tone for this new year. Kaidi Tatham brought us this incredible album last year released under the First Word label. Filled with hope and positive vibes the album uplifted every listener’s spirit during one of the toughest years of our existence. That’s why this album is a great listen at the moment when we’re hopeful and staying positive for a fresh start this year.

Yussef Dayes & Kamaal Williams – Black Focus

Black Focus was released by the collab of two geniuses, Yussef Dayes & Kamaal Williams together as Yussef Kamaal. Simply one of my favorite albums of all times. Little throwback to 2016 when the album was released on Brownswood Recordings. As any other instant classic this album will always feel fresh everytime you go back to it. Keeping a modern approach but with a vibe that is reminiscing of 70’s funk and jazz music. Black Focus is one of the master pieces of the last decade. A must have in any respectable collection.
