Marcos Resende & Index – Marcos Resende & Index

Far Out Recordings brought us the first issue ever of the self-titled debut album from 1976 that was never released before. This is a fresh taste of the glory days of progressive Brazilian instrumental music. The album is incredible and it only took 45 years to be publicly released. Jokes apart, it could have never been out so we are very grateful to both Marcos Resende and Far Out Recordings for doing this. Thanks to them we are blessed to discover such an incredible project. Feels like unveiling a lost treasure.

Native Dancer – TIDES

Absolutely breathtaking, TIDES is the debut album by the band Native Dancer from London. Their sound is the fresh aspect and most modern iteration I’ve heard of what you could refer to as UK Soul music. Drawing inspiration from Funk, Jazz, Soul and R&B, Native Dancer has the perfect blend of these. The mixing and mastering are perfect, the vocals are spot on and the music is super fresh. The project is probably one of our favorite that came out in the recent months. Please don’t skip this.

Takuya Kuroda – Fly Moon Die Soon

New York based Japanese Jazz musician and producer Takuya Kuroda released his new album with the label First Word Records a few months back. The album is filled with positive vibes and hits exactly the right spots when it comes to our music needs right now. This is a perfectly arranged album, the project for Fly Moon Die Soon started in 2018 and took about 2 years to complete. The result is astonishing. Have a listen.

Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids – Shaman!

Hailing from San Francisco, the West Coast jazz maverick Idris Ackamoor is joined by The Pyramids for this incredible album titled Shaman! that will take you on a transcending spiritual journey. The album presents a powerful tale of inner peace, self discovery, and connecting with the world, people and natural elements. Without a doubt one of the best albums of the year. Masterfully composed, recorded and directed the project comes like a ray of light in a dark place that was the year 2020. Released by the Londonian label Strut, which is in line for label of the year once again dropping gems after gems.

Surprise Chef – Daylight Savings

The Aussie Band from Melbourne Surprise Chef is back with a absolutely incredible album titled “Daylight Savings” which came out on the Mr Bongo imprint. The music on this album is out of this world amazing. Surprise Chef will take you back a few decades with their incredible live jazz-funk performance. The sounds are all super authentic, you can feel the classic synths, guitars and percussions. And to make it even more jaw-dropping it came out on this creamy white vinyl edition that feels super vintage. One of the most wonderful releases of 2020 for sure.

Greg Foat – Symphonie Pacifique

The new album by UK Pianist Greg Foat which came out this Summer is absolutely incredible. The music takes you on a funky/jazzy trip with an upbeat tempo and gives you a feeling of lightness and freedom. The cover is also one of my favorite of this entire year, during such a dark year with everything going on this album is like a breath of fresh air and positive vibes. It came out via the Londonian label Strut. Just wonderful! 10/10
